Don’t forget it’s the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th January!
This vital piece of public research helps the RSPB monitor bird numbers, and gauge what effect the last 12 months has had on our bird population.
This time of year many birds visit our gardens in search of food and shelter; having survived the worst of the winter, birds still face a long hard fight for survival until warmer weather increases their food supply. Spring is actually one of the hungriest times for birds, as seeds and berries become exhausted and insect numbers are still low.
The survey requires you to watch and count the birds for just one hour, on either the 29th or 30th January, using the helpful guides provided by the RSPB.
Get spotting, you never know what you might see!
